I remember one day I was packing my bags to go when the photographer I worked for at the time went on a little rant about how so many people take shortcuts and never truly learn the craft. In fact, they take so many shortcuts and mess so many things up throughout the process that they end up making things harder on themselves down the line.

He said the best way to do something fast is to dedicate the time and energy to learn something and to learn it well. And what’s the secret to that? Slowing down and taking your damn time.

Slow isn’t sexy. Slow isn’t cool. But slow is sustainable and it will get you where you want to go. Take the long way. There are no shortcuts.
