About:
Jason Lam is an Asian-American artist living in New York City. Deriving inspiration from early narrative cinema and street photography, he believes art is a way of truth-telling. Working with photography, design, video, and painting, his practice acknowledges the act of creating is like voluntarily stepping into the unknown. With a background in dance, he emphasizes movement and exploration—celebrating the human form and how our life energy carries us between multiple realms. Enhanced by his use of high-contrast black-and-white, he creates his pieces with a vérité approach. Like a spectator in his own dreams, Jason Lam’s work is an invitation to encounter the unknown, while still finding a way to stay true to one’s voice.
